About the show

Daniel Evans’ Sheffield Crucible revival of Show Boat is now on in London's West End. Based on the novel by Edna Ferber, the nautical musical opened at the New London Theatre in April, following the closure of the long-running War Horse. Show Boat opened on April 25th and is booking until January 7th 2017.

Show Boat has been revived numerous times, including a 1971 production at the Adelphi Theatre which ran for an extensive 909 performances. The musical returned to the London Palladium in 1990, followed by a Broadway transfer to the Prince Edward Theatre in 1998, which earned the production the Olivier Award for Outstanding Musical Production. Show Boat was most recently seen in London at the Royal Albert Hall in 2006, with the Sheffield Crucible revival closing in January 2016.

Directed and musically supervised by David White (From Here to Eternity), Show Boat spans over 40 years of American history relived on the beloved ‘Cotton Blossom’. Set in the US at the turn of the 20th century, the musical follows the lives and loves of three generations. Oscar Hammerstein II and Jerome Kern’s classic score includes songs such as ‘Bill’, ‘Make Believe’, ‘Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man’ and ‘Ol’ Man River’.

Show Boats features choreography from Alistair David (Sinatra at the London Palladium), with design by Lez Brotherson, lighting design by David Hersey and sound by Paul Groothius. Casting includes Gina Beck (Wicked), Rebecca Trehearn and Emmanuel Kojo, who are all reprising their roles.

Show Boat opened at the New London Theatre in April and is booking until January 7th 2017.
