About the showAfter a sell-out run at the Apollo Theatre and a previous run at the Lyric Theatre early on this year, the all-dancing, all-singing Showstopper! gang come back to the West End to play selected performances at the Lyric Theatre London.
Envisioned by Dylan Emery and Adam Meggido, Showstopper! The Improvised Musical is the award-winning improv show that brings a new musical to the stage each night. An Edinburgh Fringe Festival favourite, the group have toured extensively across the UK and have been given their own BBC Radio 4 series, wowing audiences with their quick wit and musical skills.
Showstopper! sees seven fantastic performers, their band and technical team use quick-thinking improvisational skills to create a musical from scratch. Since their inception, the group have created hundreds of original shows, which include music, dance routines and hilarious plotlines, all provided by a whole heap of audience suggestions. From romance to horror, supermarkets to farms, you never know what you will see!
Eleven performers make up the troupe, including creators Emery and Meggido, as well as experienced improvisers Ruth Bratt, Pippa Evans, Susan Harrison, Sean McCann, Phillip Pellew, Adam Pugsley, Oliver Senton, Lucy Trodd and Sarah-Louise Young. Every night, seven performers are selected at random to participate in the performance. Even the technical team, which include musical director Duncan Walsh Atkins and lighting and sound team Tim Mascall and Tom Lishman, have to be on point with their improvisational skills!
With a different show guaranteed each night, it makes it the perfect West End show to keep returning to! The show had their first performance on 10th October 2016 and play selected Mondays through until December.
Who Should See It?Showstopper! The Improvised Musical is suitable for ages 12 and up.
Due to the improvised nature of the show, it cannot be guaranteed that the show will be completely clean! Especially due to the audience participation!
