About the show

David Hare’s Olivier Award winning play, Skylight, returns to the West End with Hollywood stars Bill Nighy, Carey Mulligan and Matthew Beard taking the leading roles.

Skylight is a tale of passion, prejudice and regret and focuses on a past relationship between an older married man and a younger woman. Skylight begins as the newly widowed Tom makes a surprise visit to his former, and much younger, mistress, Kyra. Kyra is shocked to see her ex flame but it soon appears that sparks still fly between them. However as time has passed it appears that both Kyra and Tom have changed, leaving them with dangerously differing opinions.

Nighy will reprise his role as Tom, having played the same part in a 1997 production, Beard plays his son Edward and Mulligan makes her West End debut as Kyra.

Stephen Daldry directs this all star cast.  His previous track record of success with shows such as Billy Elliot (film and stage) and The Audience looks set to continue.

David Hare first premiered the play at the National Theatre in 1995, before transferring the show in 1996 to the Wyndham’s Theatre, where the production now returns after 18 years. The show opened in June for a limited summer run.
