About the showPlease note that the Old Vic Theatre has postponed performances of 4000 Miles following government advice surrounding coronavirus (COVID-19). It is expected to be rescheduled at a later date.
Academy Award nominee Timothée Chalamet and Olivier Award winner Eileen Atkins star in 4000 Miles at the Old Vic Theatre. Playing a grandmother and her wayward grandson, the pair will tread the boards in 2020.
Chalamet plays Leo, a 21-year-old who turns up at his strong-willed grandmother, Vera’s, New York apartment in the middle of the night. Last seen cycling across the United States with a friend, his sudden appearance in Greenwich Village raises a host of questions, forcing the pair to bridge their generational differences and bond over shared grief.
Timothée Chalamet is an American actor whose breakout role in Call Me By Your Name earned him an Academy Award nomination. 4000 Miles at the Old Vic marks his debut on the London stage. Playing opposite Chalamet, Eileen Atkins has appeared in dozens of West End plays including The Height of the Storm and Vita and Virginia.
Further casting includes Philippine Velge (Macbeth) as Bec and Siu-See Hung (Ghost Girl) as Amanda.
4000 Miles is playwright Amy Herzog’s critically acclaimed second play, previously staged Off-Broadway. It is directed by Olivier Award winner Matthew Warchus (Matilda the Musical) with set design and costumes by Rob Howell and sound design by Simon Baker.
Marking an exciting collaboration between a seasoned stage actress and a up-and-coming US star, catch 4000 Miles during its West End premiere at the Old Vic from 6 April 2020.
