About the show

The classic Broadway musical A Chorus Line comes to the historic London Palladium from February 2013. In the first ever West End revival since the seminal 1976 production which won the Olivier Award for Best Musical, Bob Avian’s new production has already delighted audiences on Broadway, and is set to light up the West End once more. The London transfer has been eagerly anticipated, and Andrew Lloyd Webber, whose production company Really Useful own the London Palladium is ‘delighted’ to welcome the musical to the home of London’s family entertainment. The show will be a fitting tribute to its composer Marvin Hamlisch who died in 2012.

The show follows the journey of a group of dancers auditioning to be apart of a Broadway musical. As they progress through each stage, their personal stories open up and as the director asks them about their past we are greeted with a number of moving and comedic anecdotes. The show features a score of Broadway standards, including ‘At the Ballet’, ‘What I Did for Love’ and of course, the iconic ‘One (Singular Sensation)’. Originally conceived by Michael Bennett, the show was based on a number of interviewed sessions with Broadway 'gypsies' who provided the stories that feature in the show. These honest portrayals became vignettes, focusing on a wide age range and type of performer. This production is based on the 2006 Broadway revival, which was also directed by Bob Avian.

The cast features Scarlett Strallen as Cassie, who has recently been seen in the West End as Kathy Seldon in Singin in the Rain, and John Partridge as the director Zach. Leigh Zimmerman stars as Sheila along with Victoria Hamilton-Barritt as Diana. They are joined by Alice Jane Murray and Marc Leslie who were chosen from hundreds of hopefuls who attended open auditions at the London Palladium.
