About the show

After years of waiting, the DeLorean finally flies again; this time into the West End for a spectacular musical re-imagining of Back to the Future! The sci-fi classic lands at the Adelphi Theatre in 2021.

Based on the 1985 film starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, Back to the Future the Musical follows teenager Marty McFly as he and the eccentric Doc Brown test out a time-travelling DeLorean. When he accidentally prevents his parents from getting together in the 1950s, Marty must team up with the doctor’s younger self to fix the DeLorean, get history back on track, and return home.

The musical features a book by Bob Gale, who co-wrote the original film. Music and lyrics are provided by Emmy and Grammy Award-winner Alan Silvestri and Grammy Award-winner Glen Ballard. The show will also feature a few classic 80’s hits from the film, including The Power of Love.

Casting for the London transfer is yet to be announced, although at its world premiere in Manchester, casting included Tony Award-winner Roger Bart as Doc Brown, Olly Dobson (Bat Out of Hell) as Marty, Hugh Coles as George McFly and Rosanna Hyland as Lorraine Baines.

Set your watches and strap in for the ride of a lifetime. Back to the Future the Musical opens at the Adelphi Theatre on 14 May 2021.
