About the show

Lucky Kirkwood's provocative new play gained five star reviews after premiering at London's Almeida Theatre in Angel. The play will transfer to the West End's Harold Pinter Theatre for a strictly limited run from August 6th to October 19th 2013. Featuring stunning direction by Lyndsey Turner, this triumph of story telling is a co-production with Headlong Theatre, who last worked in the West End on the sell out production of Enron. 

Chimerica is a stirring drama, beginning at the Tiananmen Square protests in China in 1989. A young American photographer Joe Moore awakes to Beijing soldiers hammering on his door, and he managed to snap a piece of history. Twenty years later, a mysterious messages is left in a Beijing newspaper and Joe begins to learn of the truth about the unknown hero he caught on film all those years ago.

The play received 5 star reviews from The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Evening Standard and Time Out, as well as incredible audience feedback. The Almeida run sold out quickly, and the news of the West End transfer has delighted many.

The cast of Chimerica includes: Stephen Campbell Moore, Benedict Wong, Claudie Blakely, Elizabeth Chan, Vera Chok, Karl Collins, Trevor Cooper , Nancy Crane, Sean Gilder, Sarah Lam and Andrew Leung.
