About the show

Amelia Bullmore’s hit play has enjoyed two sell out seasons at The Hampstead theatre and great critical acclaim. It now transfers to the Vaudeville theatre starring Tamzin Outhwaite, Samantha Spiro and Jenna Russell.

Three unlikely friends form a bond that will last a life time. The play opens in the 1980’s when the girls are just 18 and studying at University. Rose is a free-spirited art history student who sleeps with any boy she fancies, Di is a sporty lesbian who is taking business studies, and Viv is a sociology student with a ferocious work ethic. The play which promises to be both funny and touching follows the women and the strength of their friendship throughout their lives up to 2010.

Tamzin Outhwaite is probably best known for the role as Melanie Owen in BBC soap Eastenders. No stranger to the stage she has previously been seen in Sweet Charity (Theatre Royal Haymarket), Raving (Hampstead Theatre), and most recently Breeders (St. James Theatre).

Double Olivier Award winner Samantha Spiro is best known for starring in TV film Cor, Blimey! and for playing Barbara Windsor in the stage play Cleo, Camping Emmanuelle and Dick (National Theatre).

West End star Jenna Russell has been seen most recently in new musical Urinetown (St James Theatre and Apollo). She also starred in Merrily We Role Along (Menier Chocolate Factory and West End) and Sunday in the Park With George (West End and Broadway) a performance which earned her an Olivier.

The play is directed by Anna Mackmin who has been an associate director at both The Sheffield Crucible and London’s Gate Theatre.

Di and Viv and Rose marks the Hampstead Theatre’s third West End transfer in recent months along with Good People starring Imelda Staunton and The Kinks musical Sunny Afternoon.

Di and Viv and Rose opened at the Vaudeville theatre on the 22nd of January and will play until the 23rd of May 2015.
