About the show“I am the Lorax. I speak for the trees!”
After a smash-hit run at the Old Vic Theatre in 2015, the mustachioed critter returns in Dr Seuss’s The Lorax for a limited winter season in 2017. Adapted for the stage by David Greig (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), The Lorax is the Olivier Award-nominated production that has received rave reviews from audiences and critics alike.
A dazzling, moving and ultimately inspiring show, Dr Seuss’s The Lorax is the tale of the nasty Once-ler, a greedy businessman who is determined to get rid of Paradise Valley’s beloved truffula trees. Using a brilliant combination of theatrical invention and powerful puppetry, the Once-ler comes face-to-face with the magical, irrepressible and big-hearted Lorax, who is determined to save the forestry.
Previously, Dr Seuss’s The Lorax starred West End leading man Simon Lipkin, alongside Simon Paisley Day and Laura Cubitt. Casting for the new production is yet to be announced.
Adapted by David Greig, Dr Seuss’s The Lorax is directed by Max Webster (James and the Giant Peach), with choreography by Olivier Award-winning Drew McOnie (In the Heights, Jesus Christ Superstar). The Old Vic production also includes sound design by Tom Gibbons, lighting design by Jon Clark and design by Rob Howell, with original songs by Charlie Fink.
A riotous, vibrant show that combines Dr Seuss’s zany humour with a topical, pertinent message, Dr Seuss’s The Lorax is guaranteed to capture the hearts of all audience members. Opening at the Old Vic Theatre on October 15th, the production plays a limited season until November 5th 2017.
