About the show

Prepare to cut loose as the explosive 1980’s rock ‘n’ roll musical bursts on to the stage at the Peacock Theatre. Footloose dances in to the West End for a strictly limited season, in a brand new, revamped stage sensation, opening September 12th.

Based on the hit 1984 film starring Kevin Bacon, Footloose is the story of city boy Ren, who moves to rural America. Quickly, his world comes to a standstill when he discovers that dancing and rock music are banned in Bomont! Taking matters into his own hands, Ren breaks loose and soon gets the whole town on its feet.

With music by Tom Snow and lyrics by Dean Pitchford, Footloose features smash-hit songs such as “Let’s Hear it for the Boy”, “Almost Paradise”, “Holding Out for a Hero” and the unforgettable “Footloose”.

Directed by Racky Plews (American Idiot), Footloose is choreographed by Matthew Cole, with design by Sara Perks. Gareth Gates, who rose to fame with Pop Idol and has since appeared in musicals such as Joseph and Les Miserables, stars as Willard, alongside Maureen Nolan as Vi Moore.

Produced by the award-winning Selladoor Productions, who were at the helm of Avenue Q, American Idiot and Little Shop of Horrors, Footloose is set to take the world by storm once again on a new UK tour. Bursting with electrifying dance and music, the musical opens at the Peacock Theatre on September 12th and plays until September 30th 2017.
