Starring in Broadway’s Ziegfeld Follies and celebrated for her ability to turn anything and everything into a comedy sketch, Brice’s life on stage masked her turmoil out of the spotlight. When she falls in love with professional gambler Nicky Arnstein, Brice must juggle her doomed relationship with her stratospheric career. Michael Mayer directs this production, following his successes on Broadway with Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Spring Awakening, for which he won the Tony Award for Best Direction in a Musical. Harvey Fierstein, writer of Tony Award-winning Kinky Boots, makes revisions to Isobel Lennart’s original book.
