About the show

Following its sell-out 2018 season, The Birmingham Stage Company returns with the hilarious family show Horrible Histories - Barmy Britain Part Four. Meet notorious historical characters from Britain’s unbelievable past, in what can best be described as a history lesson with the nasty bits left in. See it at London's Apollo Theatre from 1-31 August 2019.

Imagine meeting with all the dastardly characters from history in the flesh. There's a problem though; they all appear to be dead! The good news is that the Horrible Histories clan are here to hook us up with the long-dead heroes and villains of the past. Encounter the ruthless Romans, survive King James I’s witch-hunt, shudder at Richard III's habits and recoil at Elizabeth I’s disgusting teeth! Peep into the home of Samuel Pepys and aid Georgian detectives in their search for the headless man.

The best-selling and immensely popular Horrible Histories book series was created by Terry Deary. A hit television series complete with catchy songs followed, as did a highly lauded set of stage shows. Barmy Britain Part Four is created by Neal Foster. Set and costume design is by Jacqueline Trousdale, lighting design comes from Jason Taylor and sound design is the work of Nick Sagar.

Wince, shudder, laugh and learn at this winsome family show, from the company responsible for Gangsta Granny, Barmy Britain Parts I, II and III and More Best of Barmy Britain. Make sure to catch Horrible Histories - Barmy Britain Part Four during its summer season at the Apollo Theatre from 1-31 August 2019.
