About the show

I Can't Sing! is the eagerly anticipated musical about the UK's biggest reality TV franchise, 'The X-Factor'. Written by the BAFTA award winning comedian Harry Hill, this hilarious new musical includes an original score by Steve Brown ('Spend, Spend, Spend'; TV Burp) and is co-produced by the patron saint of reality TV, Mr Simon Cowell. The show opened at the world famous London Palladium in March 2014. This musical has created much excitement since excerpts were performed on The Royal Variety Performance last year.

The show is described as being "Irreverent, anarchic and yet strangely touching, this spectacular musical comedy features a host of new and deliriously funny songs that will delight both fans and sceptics of The X Factor in equal measure."

I Can't Sing! Is directed by Sean Foley, whose recent West End credits have included 'The Ladykillers' and 'What the Butler Saw' and will feature choreography by Kate Prince who has recently worked on 'Into the Hoods' and 'Some Like It Hip Hop'. The musical will be designed by Es Deviln, who was part of the creative team for the London 2012 Olympic Closing Ceremony, as well as working on stadium tours with Take That and Kanye West.

The show tells the story of Chenice the only girl who's never heard of the X-Factor due to living in an ITV black spot caused by her grandfathers iron lung.  After falling on hard times fate leads her to the queue for the X-Factor auditions accompanied by her talking dog. On the journey to stardom she meet's fellow hopeful, and love interest ukulele wielding Max, as well as a whole host of other weird and wonderful auditionees of varying degrees of talent. This absurd comedy is packed full of X-factor references and surprises.

Olivier Award winner Nigel Harman stars as Simon Cowell. He is best known for his portrayal of Dennis Rickman in BBC's EastEnders, and his recent role in Downton Abbey as valet Mr Green. Nigel is joined in the cast by Cynthia Erivo, in the central role of a young X-Factor contestant Chenice. Cynthia trained at RADA, and after playing the role of Delores in 'Sister Act' on tour, has recently gained much praise for her role as Celie in the Menier Chocolate Factory’s revival of 'The Color Purple'.
