About the showBe enticed into a bold adventure across the high seas when English National Ballet’s Le Corsaire returns to the West End. Anna-Marie Holmes’ lavish production has received worldwide acclaim, and now makes its home at the London Coliseum for a strictly limited season from 8 January 2020.
The production enjoyed a successful season at the same venue back in 2016, and has also toured the globe to rapturous receptions in Tokyo, Paris and beyond. Le Corsaire (‘the pirate’) is loosely based on Lord Byron’s poem The Corsair, and English National Ballet are, so far, the only UK company to stage the tale.
The dashing pirate Conrad is sailing the perilous ocean with his spirited girlfriend Medora by his side. Together they must face villainous enemies and stormy seas in pursuit of the happiness that lies somewhere beyond the horizon.
Le Corsaire is staged by Anna-Marie Holmes, whose previous credits include Don Quixote and Swan Lake. Set and costumes are by Hollywood’s Bob Ringwood.
The score is performed by English National Ballet Philharmonic, live onstage.
This thrilling swashbuckler combines adventure, exquisite production values and a sweepingly romantic score. Catch Le Corsaire during its limited run at the London Coliseum from 8 January 2020.
Who Should See It?If pirates and adventures are your thing, Le Corsaire is just the ticket. Fans of the English National Ballet will find them at their impeccable best here.
