About the show

The Greek myth of Persephone is updated for the modern day in the premiere of new pop-rock musical Mythic at the Charing Cross Theatre. The world premiere of this musical comedy looks to be a powerful story about growing up and paving your own way.

Teenager Persephone and her mother Demeter often clash, as Demeter has high expectations of her daughter in this world of celebrity and power. Persephone has her eyes on another world, though. When her choice to pursue her own path results in her ending up in the Underworld where the real bad guys are, she has to figure out what to do next.

Marcus Stevens has written the book and lyrics, with Oran Eldor as composer and arranger. Stevens is a writer/actor based in the US with credits in New York City and the regions. Eldor is Israeli and has worked widely in Israel. This is his third musical and he has written numerous pieces of classical and religious music. Sarah O’Gleby (2018 Tony Awards, Frozen the Musical) directs and choreographs, Chris Hatt is Musical Director and Lee Newby, Jamie Platt and Andrew Johnson make up the design team.

Running at the Charing Cross Theatre for a strictly limited season, this brand-new musical tells a funny and moving tale of growing up and making your own mistakes. Sharp and relevant, this classic story is updated for our turbulent era of fame and fortune. Mythic plays from 1 October to 15 December 2018.
