Telling the familiar story of scrappy orphan Oliver, Oliver Twist guarantees to have audiences gripping the edge of their seats. A tale of friendship, discovery and love, Dickens’ Victorian story is well-known across the country. Here, the production is retold especially for those aged 6 and over.
Directed by Caroline Byrne, who recently was at the helm of The Taming of the Shrew at Shakespeare’s Globe, Oliver Twist is adapted by Anya Reiss. Reiss has previously adapted novels and plays such as Spring Awakening, Uncle Vanya and The Seagull.
Opening at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre for a limited season, the production is part of the Dickens Uncovered duo, which also features A Tale of Two Cities. Celebrating the life and works of one of the greatest writers of the Victorian era, Oliver Twist plays from July 17th August 5th 2017.
