About the show

Unlike any history lesson you've ever experienced at school, Horrible Histories has returned to the West End to delight children and adults alike. Following on from a trilogy of Horrible Histories shows, this special production of Horrible Histories - The Best of Barmy Britain brings everyone's favourite historical characters back to the stage for further insight into their fascinating lives. Based on the best selling children's book series, along with the BAFTA-award winning TV show, this is a brand new and unique take on the history of Britain, which will have even the most raucous children glued to their seats.

The Horrible Histories team use laughter and song to recreate a colourful cast of characters that will each prove that history is far from being 'boring'. It describes itself as history "with the nasty bits left in", and will entertain parents, teachers and even grandparents alike. Starring Neal Foster and Alison Fitzjohn, they play a wide range of characters spanning Britain's history from William the Conqueror to Queen Victoria, and almost everyone in between.

Horrible Histories has become an incredibly popular franchise amongst schools since the first book was written in 1993, now encompassing a variety of other media including audio books, magazines, TV shows and more. The gruesome take on notable moments in history has been the key to the franchise’s success, which has sold 20 million copies of the books across 31 countries.

Horrible Histories – The Best of Barmy Britain is specifically designed with families and schools in mind. It’s a perfect way to get children engaged with history, so group bookings for young history students are advised. The show runs until 3rd September 2016.
