About the show

Comedian Adam Kay delivers another dose of medical memoir and comedy when This Is Going To Hurt returns to the West End. The confessional show about life on the wards opens at the Apollo Theatre for a short, socially distanced season on 22 October.

Inspired by his best-selling book of the same name, This Is Going To Hurt is Adam Kay’s humorous salute to his years as a junior doctor. From the funny and bizarre to the outright heart wrenching, Kay draws on his own diary entries to regale audiences with true stories about doctors, nurses, patients and support staff.

Already a regular fixture at London theatres, This Is Going To Hurt at the Apollo Theatre is an extra-special occasion. With COVID-secure guidelines in place to ensure a safe night out, the show is one of the first to return to the West End since theatres closed in March.

If there’s ever a year to celebrate healthcare workers, it’s 2020. Catch This Is Going To Hurt in London from 22 October to 8 November.

Who Should See It?

This Is Going To Hurt tickets are perfect for fans of memoirs and medical dramas. Anyone who wants to understand the reality of healthcare workers’ jobs will also find the show fascinating.
