About the showHere comes a fierce and funny new musical chock full of pop anthems. & Juliet is the new musical featuring the songs of hit-maker extraordinaire Max Martin. With Romeo out of the picture, Juliet picks up the dagger and chooses a new path. The supremely talented Mirian-Teak Lee stars in this heartwarming and irreverently comical show. See it at the Shaftesbury Theatre from 2 November 2019.
Songbooks don't get much more upbeat and iconic than this. Audiences can expect the sounds of Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Backstreet Boys, Ariana Grande, Justin Timberlake, Adele, Bon Jovi, Ellie Goulding and The Weeknd, all treated to new arrangements by Bill Sherman. Iconic songs such as Baby One More Time, Everybody and Love Me Like You Do will have hearts soaring and bodies moving.
Come with Juliet as she discovers that there's life after Romeo. On a whirlwind trip to Paris with Nurse and her girlfriends, Juliet discovers a life of freedom she hadn't know before. There's romance, fun, comedy and self-discovery to be had, and she's not going to waste a single moment.
Max Martin, one of the show’s producers as well as its musical collaborator, is the songwriter responsible for the pop soundtrack of the last three decades. It has a book by David West Read, set design by Soutra Gilmour, costume design by Paloma Young, sound design by Gareth Owen, lighting design by Howard Hudson and choreography by Jennifer Weber. Bill Sherman is the music supervisor, orchestrator and arranger and Dominic Fallacaro is the musical director.
Mirian-Teak Lee is no stranger to the West End, coming fresh from the cast of Hamilton, which sells out night after night at Victoria Palace. Lee received the honour of Best Actress in A Musical at the Stage Debut Awards for her role in On the Town at Regents Park Open Air Theatre.
Lee is joined onstage by Cassidy Janson, David Bedella as Lance and Oliver Tompsett as Mrs and Mr Shakespeare, with Melanie La Barrie playing the role of Nurse, and Arun Blair-Mangat, Jordan Luke Gage and Tim Mahendran completing the main cast.
