About the show

Annie is a musical that resonates with a huge range of theatre fans, being one of the most popular shows of the 20th century. A new version of the classic musical starring the hilariously funny comedian Miranda Hart, is set to begin performances at the Piccadilly Theatre from the 23rd May 2017.

Annie takes places in the Big Apple during the Great Depression, and tells the story of the plucky titular character, who whiles away her childhood trapped in the Municipal Girls Orphanage. If that isn’t bad enough, Annie has to constantly content with the horror of dealing with the drunken Miss Hannigan who cares (albeit very little) for the girls.

Left with only an old letter from her parents, this is all she needs to step out into the wide world and try to track them down. When she bumps into a popular billionaire, Oliver Warbucks, her luck begins to change, but will the vindictive Miss Hannigan manage to spoil her fun?

Annie is well known for its acclaimed score, which includes the hugely popular songs It’s the Hard Knock Life, Easy Street and Tomorrow.

Annie marks the West End debut of British TV favourite Miranda Hart as Miss Hannigan. Best known for the immensely popular BBC Sitcom Miranda, Miranda Hart is a life-long fan of the musical, having learnt every part in her school days. Now, she finally gets the chance of starring in it in the West End.

Annie is set to begin previews at the Piccadilly Theatre on 23rd May 2017, with an official opening on 5th June 2017. Miranda Hart is due to play Miss Hannigan until 17th September 2017, with tickets currently available over Christmas until 6th January 2018.
