About the show

Bugsy Malone re-opened at the Lyric Theatre in London’s West End on 10th June 2016, following its critically acclaimed sold out run last year. Directed by Olivier Award-winning Sean Holmes, Bugsy Malone is set to once again bring this much loved classic back to the London stage.

Featuring all your favourite songs from the original award winning film such as My Name is Tallulah, Bad Guys and So You Wanna Be a Boxer, Paul Williams score is put to magnificent use with a cast of up and coming actors set to steal your heart. With brilliant choreography by Drew McOnie and musical direction by Phil Bateman, these numbers are brought to life spectacularly.

Known for his shows such as Saved, Blasted and Treasure Island, Sean Holmes is currently Artistic Director of the Lyric Theatre in London. The original run of Bugsy Malone marked the reopening of the Lyric Theatre following a recent renovation, and was glowingly reviewed by critics, including receiving a nomination at the Olivier Awards for Best Musical Revival.

Bugsy Malone is set in New York during the 1920s and 1930s, when prohibition gangs owned the city, and famous mob bosses such as Bugs Moran and Al Capone were kings. The musical however flips the violence and crime on its head, putting child actors centre stage and giving a funny and endearing look into the ways of adults. The original film went on to become one of the best loved movie musicals of all time, receiving a range of nominations at the Oscars and Golden Globes.

The original Lyric Theatre production that took the West End by storm last year was the first professional West End version of Bugsy Malone in ten years. With a cast of brilliantly talent young actors that includes Mark Charles, Adryan Dorset-Pitt and Louis Doran as Bugsy Malone, Tabitha Knowles, Danya Cherry Chapman Dixon and Georgia Pemberton as Blousey Brown, Olivia Shaye Materson, Rhianna Dorris and Leni Zieglmeir as Tallulah and Max Gill, Vincent Finch and Maddison Tyson as Fat Sam.

Bugsy Malone is currently running at the Lyric Theatre is scheduled to play until 4th September 2016, making it a must see summer musical for any London theatregoers.
