Dirty Dancing the musical tells the story of Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman, who starts a steamy romance with dancing instructor, Johnny Castle whilst at an upscale Catskills resort with her family. Her world is turned upside-down when she is first introduced to an all-night dance party and is soon tangled up in a complex web of inter-personal relationships.
The Dirty Dancing musical is beloved amongst theatre fans for including 35 hit songs, such as “Hungry Eyes”, “(I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life” and “Hey! Baby”. The sensual, stunning choreography pays tribute to the hugely popular film, while also adding new moves to make the stage version stand on its own (but not in the corner!)
Dirty Dancing has proven to be a stage his around the globe, seen by millions of people, with an enduring popularity that makes it a modern West End classic. It first opened at the Aldwych Theatre in 2006, with record-breaking advance ticket sales of £15 million.
Michael O’Reilly stars as Johnny Castle alongside Kira Malou as ‘Baby’. Both have played their respective roles to fantastic audience feedback during the show’s UK tour. Federico Bellone (Mary Poppins, West Side Story) directs the production with Austin Wilks leading the choreography. Wilks originally featured in the 2012 production of Dirty Dancing at the Piccadilly Theatre.
