About the show

Ben Forster and Kimberley Walsh star in the London premiere of Elf the musical.

Inspired by the hit 2003 film which starred Will Ferrell and Zooey Deschanel, the book of the musical was adapted from the film by Tony Award winners Bob Martin and Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray) and the music is by Tony Award winners Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin.

The musical has previously been seen on Broadway where it was well received and played for two consecutive Christmases as well as completing two successful US tours.

Narrated by Santa Claus the musical tells the story of Buddy who ventures to New York to find his biological father after discovering he is infact a human and was transported back to the North Pole by mistake in Santa’s present sack and raised by elves. Buddy is horrified to discover that his father is on the naughty list and his step brother doesn’t even believe in Santa cue a number of hilarious situations as Buddy attempts to inject some Christmas cheer into their lives.

This UK production directed by Michael Rose was seen last year in Dublin and Plymouth where it played to sold out audiences. Original cast members Ben Forster,  Joe McGann and Jessica Martin reprise their roles. They will be joined by Girls Aloud's Kimberley Walsh who will play Jovie.

Buddy the elf will be played by Ben Forster winner of ITV’s Superstar and subsequent star of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Super Star Arena tour.

Aside from her pop career Kimberley Walsh has appeared in the films Horrid Henry: The Movie and All Stars. No stranger to the stage she made her West End theatre debut playing Princess Fiona in the London production of Shrek the Musical.  Kimberly was also a finalist in the 2012 Strictly Come Dancing.

The production will feature direction and choreography by Morgan Young (White Christmas, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) and set design and costumes by Olivier Award winner Tim Goodchild.

The London premiere of Elf the musical will open at the Dominion Theatre on the 24th of October for a strictly limited 10 week season.
