Whether it’s 3 Little Birds or One Love, Bob Marley’s music is instantly recognisable and beloved the world over, but behind every song is a story. In Get Up, Stand Up! The Bob Marley Story, audiences can discover the love, loss, spirituality and triumph behind the chart-topping hits.
With unique access to Marley’s back catalogue, the musical will feature many of his best-known songs performed live on stage by the cast, including No Woman No Cry and Exodus.
Arinze Kene stars as Bob Marley, having most recently appeared opposite American actor Wendell Pierce in Death of a Salesman at the Young Vic Theatre. His other credits include Misty, a one-man show he both wrote and performed in, and Little Baby Jesus.
The musical features a book by Lee Hall, who most famously wrote Billy Elliott and more recently Elton John biopic Rocketman. Clint Dyer directs, having previously helmed Death of England/em> at the National Theatre.
