About the show

Please note that performances of Hello, Dolly! have been postponed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The production is expected to be rescheduled at a later date.

Olivier Award winner Imelda Staunton makes a triumphant return to the West End in Hello, Dolly!. The musical star plays the famed matchmaker in a new production at the Adelphi Theatre.

Featuring joyous songs including “Put On Your Sunday Clothes” and “Elegance”, Hello, Dolly! showcases the matchmaking escapades of socialite Dolly Levi. Having been commissioned by Horace Vandergelder to find him a wife, Dolly heads out of town on an adventure that sweeps up milliner Irene Molloy, Vandergelder’s shy niece Ermengarde, and young artist Ambrose. As Dolly manoeuvres her prospective couples into position, she soon realises there’s one more suitor in the mix – herself.

Hello, Dolly! stars Olivier Award winner Imelda Staunton (Follies, Sweeney Todd and Into The Woods) as Dolly, Jenna Russell (Fun Home) as Irene, Andy Nyman (Ghost Stories) as Horace Vandergelder, Harry Hepple as Cornelius Hackl, Clare Halse as Minnie Fay and Tyrone Huntley as Barnaby Tucker.

The musical features a book by Michael Stewart and music and lyrics by Jerry Herman. The duo’s classic is brought back to London by director Dominic Cooke (Follies, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom), with choreography by Bill Deamer, set and costume design by Rae Smith and music supervision by Nicholas Skilbeck.

Marriages, music and matchmaking: Hello, Dolly! at the Adelphi Theatre is a gloriously fun musical with an incomparable leading lady. It begins previews on 11 August 2020.
