About the show

After dazzling audiences on Broadway, the stage adaptation of Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge! transfers to London. A real showstopper full of glitz, glamour and pop mashups, Moulin Rouge! The Musical will open at the Piccadilly Theatre.

Set in Paris at the beginning of the 20th century, the show welcomes audiences into the famous Moulin Rouge music hall as a pair of star-crossed lovers meet. One is a sickly singer and courtesan, the other a bohemian composer. Against the fleeting brilliance of artists, performances and free-flowing parties, the pair develop a passionate but doomed relationship.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical features a book by Tony Award-winning playwright John Logan (Red) and musical arrangements by Justin Levine. Levine enhances the film’s already iconic soundtrack by adding an astonishing remix of 21st century chart-toppers including Adele and Beyoncé.

Tony Award nominee and Beetlejuice boss Alex Timbers directs, with set design from Derek McLane, costumes by Catherine Zuba and choreography by Sonya Tayeh.

Casting for Moulin Rouge! The Musical at the Piccadilly Theatre is to be confirmed.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical is a striking tale of freedom and beauty and already a firm favourite amongst New York audiences. Be enchanted by this glamourous spectacle at the Piccadilly Theatre.
