About the show
Ballet superstar and notorious bad boy Sergei Polunin leaps into the London Palladium this summer with an awe-inspiring dance showcase. The talented performer appears to be clocking up success after success, racking up credits in the film world as well as in music videos. Tickets to past shows have been known to sell out rapidly. Witness the astonishing new Sergei Polunin show in the West End from 28 May 2019.The Ukraine ballerino started out as the child prodigy of ballet. At 19, he was the youngest Principal Dancer to perform for London's Royal Ballet. His bad boy image can be attributed to his sudden exit from the ballet world and the dramatic drug, alcohol and arrest scandals that ensued. In an incredible turn of events, Polunin returned three years later in grand style. He starred in Hozier’s viral “Take Me to Church” music video, which was shot by top photographer David LaChapelle. Suddenly, Polunin was back.
The dancer has gone on to appear in the dance video Sergei x Rankin and in the music video for Hozier’s single “Movement”. He has taken on several notable film roles which include Murder on the Orient Express and Red Sparrow.
The mixed programme includes five ballets. From 28 - 30 May the programme includes Fraudulent Smile, choreographed by Ross Freddie Ray, Paradox, and Sacré, both choreographed by Yuka Oishi. On 31 May and 1 June, the programme includes the world premiere of Rasputin, alongside a yet-to-be-announced piece. Rasputin is also choreographed by Oishi, and boasts costumes by haute couturist Ulyana Sergeenko,
There's nothing quite like a Sergei Polunin show. Witness this supreme talent when the ballet dancer arrives on the London Palladium stage from 28 May to 1 June 2019.
