About the show

English National Ballet’s Nutcracker makes a dazzling return to the London Coliseum for a limited four-week season. This enduring festive staple marks the start of the Christmas season, running in the West End from 11 December 2019.

Following sell-out success at the venue in 2016, 2017 and 2018, the production is back brighter and more beautiful than ever before. Based on the traditional E. T. A. Hoffmann tale The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, the piece features the famous score by Tchaikovsky, performed live. Be enchanted by lavish sets and costumes as well as more than 100 dancers and musicians.

It is Christmas Eve in Edwardian London, and snow blankets the Earth. Young Clara receives the gift of an enchanted Nutcracker doll, to her delight. Together, they step through the door to a magical world, and adventures ensue. They come face to face with the dastardly Mouse King, and later take to the skies in a hot air balloon which carries them to the Land of Snow.

The show's concept is by Wayne Eagling and Toer van Schayk, with choreography by Eagling. Design comes from Peter Farmer and lighting is by David Richardson.

An icy delight that the whole family will love, Nutcracker plays at the London Coliseum for just four weeks from 11 December 2019.
