About the show

Birmingham Repertory Theatre’s enchanting The Snowman makes its return to the Peacock Theatre, for the Christmas season, marking its 22nd year. A stunning showcase of dance, live music and storytelling, this charming spectacle is one the whole family can relish. Catch it from 21 November 2019.

Based on the Raymond Briggs children’s book, the show also includes songs and music from the 1982 film, including the immortal “Walking in the Air”. The story is told through movement and images rather than words, and awesome special effects capture the imaginations of the children in the audience.

One snowy Christmas, a young boy builds a snowman, a tall specimen complete with hat and scarf. Suddenly, something magical happens: the chilly figure comes to life and together the pair embark on a heart-stopping, enchanted adventure.

Bill Alexander directs. The Artistic Director of Birmingham Repertory Theatre, he is the recipient of a Binkie Beaumont Award for Best New Director and a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Director.

The Snowman is produced by John Coates and features original music and lyrics by Howard Blake. Choreography is the work of Robert North, while design is by Ruari Murchison’s and lighting is by Tim Mitchell.

Come swim in the midnight blue with the heart-warming The Snowman at Peacock Theatre from 21 November 2019.
